The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged citizens of Kuwait planning to hold Schengen visas to submit the visa application through the offices approved by the concerned embassies, according to an Al-Qabas report.
In addition, the Ministry stressed through a statement the importance of submitting the visa application before a sufficient period of travel date several months in advance, laying emphasis on submitting all the needed documents to the office, approved by the embassy, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.
The same Ministry also noted that citizens must remain committed to the appointment date provided by the office approved by the embassy in order to avoid delays in the visa issuance process, as well as the importance of following up on periodic bulletins published by embassies from time to time. The Ministry also issued that citizens must ensure that information is obtained only from their official sources.
Recently, the Council of the European Union announced that the Permanent Representatives Committee (Coreper) approved the negotiations mandate on the liberalisation of short-stay visas for citizens of Kuwait.
According to a press release, the Council stressed that based on the mandate, the presidency would start negotiations with the European Parliament.
In addition, the Council of EU confirmed the proposal of the Commission to provide for visa-free travel for the citizens of Kuwait planning to travel to European Union countries for a period of 90 days within a 180-day period.
The Council thus took the first step towards visa liberalisation with Kuwait and Qatar, which should apply after the conclusion of bilateral agreements with these countries, in particular, to ensure that full reciprocity of this exemption for EU citizens is maintained,” the statement of the Council notes.
Recently, the Ambassador of Kuwait to the European Union, Jasem Al-Budaiwi, welcomed the European Commission’s proposal to abolish visa requirements for citizens of Kuwait.
Al-Budaiwi called the decision of the EU a’ momentous day for Kuwait’; citizens of this country will now become eligible to travel without visas.
“The people of Kuwait have increasingly looked to Europe and all the EU member states for tourism, education, health, investment, business, and much, much more. This breakthrough will positively facilitate this trend and ensure that Kuwait remains an important partner,” the Ambassador pointed out.
As soon as the EU Council gives the green light, nationals from Kuwait will be eligible to visit all the EU Member States as well as Schengen Zone countries for short stays of 90 days in any 180 days.
