London-based news site, Rai AlYoum published a story reporting on the recent corruption accusations made against Jordanian Speaker of the House of Representatives, Atif Tarwaneh. In the story, Rai AlYoum claimed the sudden accusations against Tarwaneh were just effort from the king\\\\\\\’s government appear as if it is fighting corruption. The government is trying to do this by \\\\\\\” finding a new prisoner of corruption charges to replace the soon-to-be-released ex-intelligence chief Mohammad Dahabi. [COMMENT: Mohammad Dahabi was detained on corruption charges in 2012 in what was one of the most bizarre corruption cases in the country\\\\\\\’s historty. Nonetheless, the paper\\\\\\\’s claim that Atif Tawarnaeh is just being used as an escape goat for Dahabi\\\\\\\’s release is not realistic. Tarwaneh is one of king Abduallah\\\\\\\’s closest allies and business partner, the legal and media attacks on him hurt the king directly and are evidence of the growing public discontent with the king and his inner circle. Also, Rai AlYoum is a site edited by Palestinian-British journalist Abdel Bari Atwan, who has know to become too friendly to the king\\\\\\\’s regime.]
